When you’re done watching the below video, read David Pierce’s review of iPadOS 16 and Stage Manager.

Apple’s latest base-model iPad cribs a lot of features from the more expensive iPad Air. But it also is considerably more expensive than before, making it a tough sell.
Courtesy of Google’s blog post announcing its new Messages features today, we’ve gotten a look at what a Pixel Watch could be if it didn’t have that giant bezel on it.
Sadly, Google’s since removed the image, but it’s clear that someone there wishes the Pixel Watch had a bigger screen instead of its racetrack bezel.
We might have hit peak film camera hype: Leica is reissuing its M6 film camera from 1984 and selling it for $5,295, in this, the two thousand and twenty second year of our digital photography.
The only thing that costs more might be the film you have to put in this — have you seen the prices of Kodak film lately?
Apple’s Home Key feature, which lets you tap an iPhone or Apple Watch to a smart lock to unlock it, has so far only been available on one Schlage lock in the US (which itself has been very difficult to buy).
Now it’s in a second lock — the new $329 Level Lock Plus. Like Level’s prior locks, this one doesn’t look like a smart lock at all, and ditches the keypad for a sleeker presentation. It can be found in some Apple stores now and will be available online starting on October 21st.
Jen’s got a review unit in hand, so stay tuned for her take on how well this works in practice.
Google’s Pixel Watch has a striking design with a domed glass top. At the same time, it’s a strikingly-fragile design — one of our review units developed a crack along the screen without getting dropped or getting smacked into anything.
Unsurprisingly, there are already cases you can buy to put on the Pixel Watch to attempt to protect it. (There’s also an entire industry of similar Apple Watch cases, which I’ll never understand.) But if you need to put a case on top of your new, sleek smartwatch, perhaps it’s not a great design for a wearable device.

If you were eyeing the Apple Watch Ultra but didn’t like its matte titanium finish and orange action button, well now you can get one polished to a shine thanks to a jeweler based in Arizona.
That shine will cost you: it’s about $1,500, or nearly twice the cost of a dull Apple Watch Ultra. But you’ll likely be the only one at the company retreat with a shiny Ultra, while all those basic bros have the same matte finish one.
Google’s Pixel Watch uses a proprietary strap mounting system that prevents standard straps from attaching to it. But if you happen to buy one of Google’s $79.99 Crafted Leather Bands, you can wedge a strap pin tool between its lugs and pop the strap off Google’s special mount. Then you can fit whatever 20mm strap you want in its place.
Here’s a brown leather strap that I bought for a Samsung watch a couple years ago fitting just fine. I don’t understand why Google isn’t selling a brown strap for the Pixel Watch, so I took matters into my own hands.
