Android 14 might actually be useful when you have a physical keyboard attached.

One of my oft-repeated and long-standing complaints with Android tablets is the generally poor support for keyboard shortcuts, which can make using them for productivity work unnecessarily frustrating. Some manufacturers like Samsung have built limited support for keyboard shortcuts on their own, but it looks like Android 14 is going to make a lot more of them native in the system.

Now if only we can get some actual apps to support keyboard shorts — I’m looking at you Gmail.

How much does the shape and material of your keycaps impact the sound of your keyboard?

It turns out quite a bit. If you weren’t aware, keycaps for mechanical keyboard can come in a wide variety of sizes and various materials. The height of the keycaps can change the sound of your keyboard dramatically, from higher pitched clacks to deeper tones.

If you’re going for that trendy deep thocky sound, you’re going to want tall, preferably PBT keycaps.

The Red Hydrogen phone was one of the worst products we ever reviewed.

Seriously, it has one of, if not the absolute, lowest review scores we’ve ever given out.

Apparently that whole debacle was five years ago, and SnazzyLabs has a fun video looking back on the Red and the tech that was inside of it.

We finally got our hands on Google’s Pixel Fold.

Forget the leaks and the spec sheets; we went to Google I/O and got to use the company’s pricey (it starts at $1,799.99) new folding phone.

Dan Seifert can tell you more about the Pixel Fold’s hinge and show you what it looks like next to Samsung’s Galaxy Z Fold 4 — check out our entire writeup if you need even more details.

The Pixel Fold is Google’s $1,800 entry into folding phones

Google is finally giving Samsung some competition in the folding phone space with the Pixel Fold, a device that transforms between a standard smartphone and a small tablet by folding in half.

You ever wonder what it would be like to press both control buttons at the same time with one finger?

Heads up: your Google TV streaming box just got a little better.

Google says it’s released a couple useful updates to its Google TV operating system that should make life a little better for those that have a Google TV set top box.

First, apps will now hibernate if they haven’t been used for 30 days, and the size of apps has been reduced by about 25 percent, freeing up some storage.

Second, Google says it’s reduced the amount of time it takes for the Google TV to wake up and respond to remote control inputs.

Both updates should be rolling out now!

The best Mastodon app for Apple devices is now available.

Mona, a Mastodon app for the iPhone, iPad, and Mac, is now officially out of beta and in Apple’s App Store.

I’ve been using the beta of Mona for months and it’s easily my favorite Mastodon client — it has excellent sync between my devices, lots of customizability, and features you don’t get in the first-party Mastodon app, like quote posts.

There’s no subscription fee, but a $15.99 one-time charge will unlock all of its features across all your devices. You can also opt to just buy the iPhone, iPad, or Mac versions separately.
