The Rick and Morty season 6 premiere is free on YouTube.

Putting your show’s pilot or premiere on YouTube is becoming a trend, and I love it. The latest to go free is Rick and Morty, everybody’s favorite buddy comedy about space travel and MeeSeeks. A lot about this episode might be confusing if you’ve never seen the show before... but a lot about Rick and Morty is confusing anyway. So enjoy!

    What does Wikipedia... sound like?

Weird question, right? But I love a good sonic logo (Netflix’s Ta-dum, the Windows boot noise, all that good stuff), and now Wikimedia is holding a contest through October 10th to find one for Wikipedia and Wikimedia. I’m imagining... wind chimes. A lot of wind chimes.

If you’re installing iOS 16, turn on haptic typing ASAP.

Seriously, it’s one of the things I liked most about iOS 16 — the setting is hard to find, but it makes typing on glass way better. (And yes, Android has had this forever, but my iPhone doesn’t run Android, so give me this one.)

A good read on “the tyranny of WhatsApp groups.”

Group chats are great, and are replacing social media for a lot of people. They also, this smart Guardian piece points out, flood your life with notifications and raise the stakes for reading them all. So what do you do? And can you ever get out? (This is a good companion to last week’s WSJ piece about texting being the new email, too.)

What 19,000 tweets tell us about Elon Musk.

He loves Twitter. He hates Twitter. He’s been mad about his reply-bots since at least 2018. The Washington Post did a good deep dive through Musk’s tweets to figure out what he actually thinks about the platform — which might matter during next month’s trial — and the answer is predictably all over the place. Now I want to know what he really thinks about crypto.

Zoom is Slack is Teams is Workspace, and it’s getting boring.

Yes, Zoom is probably smart to go all-in on chat, and try to keep more people in its ecosystem all day. (Also, sorry, changing the name from Zoom Chat to Zoom Teams Chat isn’t going to accomplish... anything.) But I can’t help but be bummed to see Slack, Teams, Zoom and even Google Workspace all basically turning into the same overbearing all-in-one work app. Are there just no more new ideas in this space?

    The Dynamic Island... iPad edition?

I still can’t say “Dynamic Island” with a straight face. But if Parker’s extremely cool menu bar-style iPad Pro concepts come true — and finally get Apple to move the iPad camera to the center of the device where it belongs — I’ll happily pack my things and declare permanent residency on Dynamic Island.
