Artificial intelligence might someday make technology easier to use and even do things on your behalf. All the Rabbit R1 does right now is make me tear my hair out.
James Hoffman, who I trust completely on all things coffee, just published a really good rundown of coffee apps. Which are a thing! Apps for making coffee, apps for finding great coffee, apps for making sure you’re not drinking too much coffee. I fully intend to drink too much coffee testing all of these out. For journalism.
And I have so many questions (SO many questions) and so much setup and testing to do. I’ll write some initial thoughts tomorrow, but I’m definitely enjoying the way this thing feels. More a Fun Toy than a Smartphone Killer, you know?

I haven’t been to a gadget launch like this in… a long time. We’re at the swanky TWA Hotel in NYC, where a bunch of early Rabbit adopters will get their AI gadgets. There’s a 360 Photo Booth! And a speakeasy! And a whole installation of scroll wheels! AI!
Aaron LaBerge is a big name at ESPN and Disney — he’s been there most of the last two decades, overseeing a lot of big projects including the recent Hulu / Disney Plus combination. He cited “personal reasons” for leaving in a note to staff, but also has a new job: after working on the joint betting project between ESPN and Penn Entertainment, he’s Penn’s new CTO.
