Jack Dorsey’s Block is cutting jobs (again).

The company — which owns Square, CashApp, and Tidal — is reportedly laying off over 930 employees and closing its open roles. It’s the company’s second recent layoff, after cutting similar numbers in early 2024. Dorsey explained the cuts in an email sent to staff and shared by TechCrunch:

None of the above points are trying to hit a specific financial target, replacing folks with AI, or changing our headcount cap. They are specific to our needs around strategy, raising the bar and acting faster on performance, and flattening our org so we can move faster and with less abstraction.

OnePlus’ new power bank is seriously slim.

The $69.99 5,000mAh charger is just 9mm thin — only fractionally thicker than the OnePlus 13 itself. It attaches magnetically for wireless charging, but you’ll need one of OnePlus’ magnetic cases — which start from $24.99 — if you want to use the magnets with the company’s own flagship. It’ll work with MagSafe iPhones out of the box though, and there’s always USB-C to fall back on.

    BYD beats Tesla.

The Chinese automaker reports 777 billion yuan ($107 billion) revenue for 2024, comfortably topping Tesla’s $97.7 billion over the same period. The two companies shipped similar numbers of EVs last year, but add in BYD’s hybrids and it delivered more than double the vehicles Tesla did.

Last week the company unveiled car charging tech that’s twice as fast as Tesla’s, delivering 249 miles of range in just five minutes.

    Oppo readies another Ultra.

The Find X8 Ultra will launch in China on April 10th, joined by the Find X8s and X8s Plus. The X8s is a “compact” version of last year’s Find X8, though its 6.3-inch display is still bigger than an iPhone 16.

As for the Ultra, we know it’ll have dual periscope cameras, a flat display, and a huge battery, but it remains to be seen if it will ever make it out of China.

    A wooden Razr.

Motorola is expected to reveal its new generation of Razr flip phones soon, and leaker Evan Blass thinks we’re going to see an unusual new finish: wood. He shared a GIF showing off the Razr Plus 2025 (a.k.a. Razr 60 Ultra outside the US) in a light brown wood version, though didn’t add any details — so we don’t know if this is real wood, like in 2014’s Moto X, or something else.

A leaked animation of a Razr phone with a wooden finish.
It’s not clear if this is real wood, or (more likely) wood effect.

Nvidia is ready to spend big in the States.

After Apple promised last month to invest $500 billion in the US in the wake of Trump’s recent tariffs, Nvidia is matching suit. CEO Jensen Huang suggests he may be able to splash a few hundred billion on US manufacturing:

“Overall, we will procure, over the course of the next four years, probably half a trillion dollars worth of electronics in total. And I think we can easily see ourselves manufacturing several hundred billion of it here in the US.”

Huang also praised Huawei’s AI efforts, just days after Nvidia launched its own new AI superchips.

Split Fiction’s secret level leads to Sweden.

Two Chinese streamers, E1uM4y and Sharkov, appear to be the first to have completed a secret level dubbed “Laser Hell” in co-op game Split Fiction. Their reward? First, an in-game video from director Josef Fares congratulating them on a “crazy, crazy achievement.” Then, a promise to fly the first pair to complete the challenge to Sweden to see Hazelight Studio’s next game — a pledge Fares has already backed up on X.
