Google Find Hub is turning bounty hunter.

Alongside a shiny rebrand and airline integration, Google is expanding the range of trackers in its Find Hub network. But not with boring practicalities like better battery or more accurate tracking — no, we get Baby Yoda, thanks to a new set of Disney-themed tags from Pixbee.

    XR at I/O.

Android XR didn’t get a lot of screen time at today’s Android Show — apart from confirmation that it’s going to get Gemini AI support — but Google promises that there’s more to come at the full Google I/O event next week.

Android president Sameer Samat even broke out the company’s prototype XR shades to promise some “really cool Android demos” to come. And as you can see, this is a man who knows what’s cool.

Google adds tracker sharing with airlines.

You’ll be able to share the location of trackers in its Find Hub network (formerly Find My Device) with airline staff when you need to find lost luggage, just like you already can with Apple’s AirTags. Support won’t arrive until “early next year” though, and only on five airlines — while Apple supports over 15.

Alien arrives on Earth in August.

The new series Alien: Earth will premiere with two episodes on August 12th, airing on Hulu and FX in the US, or Disney Plus internationally. Thanks to Deadline we also have a first look at the cast kitted out, and know more about the plot, which hinges on the creation of the first “hybrid” androids, “infused with human consciousness.”

We’re still waiting for the show’s first trailer, but its early teasers have been... icky.

Nissan announces job cuts and factory closures.

The struggling automaker, still going it alone after the failure of merger talks with Honda, has confirmed plans to cut 20,000 jobs in the next few years, including 9,000 announced in November. It will also shut seven of its 17 factories by 2027, with the aim of saving 500 billion yen (about $3.4 billion) and becoming profitable by 2026.

    Google Messages tests @mentions.

After spotting early code for the functionality in March, Android Authority has managed to get it working in the latest beta build of Google’s RCS messaging app. For now it’s not triggering any extra notifications for people who get tagged though. Google is yet to confirm it’s working on mentions, so we don’t know how long it’ll take to roll out for real.
