Niantic Spatial announced the job cuts after it sold its gaming business to the Saudi Arabia-owned developer Scopely last month. But now we know how many employees may be affected, as a California WARN notice filed in March (but spotted now by Game Developer) indicates that Niantic will lay off 68 employees in the state on May 20th, 2025.

Users on the Uber app can sign up to gain early access to the robotaxi service, which will take people across 65 square miles of Atlanta, including Downtown, Buckhead, and Capitol View. Waymo says “select riders” who join the waitlist “may get access to Waymo rides ahead of the public launch.”
Last month, Waymo similarly launched in Austin exclusively through Uber.
The app’s code block feature now supports CSharp, CSS, Go, HTML, JSON, Kotlin, and PHP in addition to the five languages it originally launched with in 2022.
The AI model, called DolphinGemma, is trained on the Wild Dolphin Project’s database of sounds from wild Atlantic spotted dolphins. It’s designed to identify the patterns and structure of a dolphin’s sound, allowing it to “predict the likely subsequent sounds in a sequence” and maybe even help scientists figure out what they’re “saying.”
