Anthropic’s new research suggests people use AI for coding the most.

The company’s new “Economic Index” aims to show how AI is impacting the labor market over time. Its initial report shows questions in the “computer and mathematical” category made up 37.5 percent of all queries sent to its AI chatbot Claude. It also found that “in just over half of cases, AI was not being used to replace people doing tasks, but instead worked with them.”

President Trump said he instructed the US Treasury Secretary to stop the “wasteful” production of new pennies, adding that they “cost us more than 2 cents” to mint. As noted by the NYT, it’s not exactly clear whether Trump has the authority to do this, as Congress is tasked with overseeing the production of coins.

Dr. Andrew Searles, the researcher who submitted the study, told Chuppl that Google collects a trove of data through reCAPTCHA, including keystrokes, clicks, IP addresses, and more.
