Rivian blames ‘fat finger’ on accidental update that may need physical servicing.

In a post on Reddit (via 404 Media), Rivian software vice president Wassym Bensaid shared the company “made an error” with the 2023.42 OTA update, causing the wrong build and wrong security certificate to go out to vehicles.

The issue, which affects the infotainment system, “may require physical repair in some cases,” Bensaid adds. Rivian says it will contact impacted customers to figure out potential solutions.

OnePlus is once again shipping its phone with bloatware from Meta.

The new OnePlus Open comes with three pre-installed apps: Facebook-installer, Facebook-services, and Meta App Manager, all of which you can’t easily remove. This isn’t the first time OnePlus has done this — it also pre-installed Facebook’s apps and services on the OnePlus 8T in 2020 but ended up removing them after user backlash.

Asus made a big typo on its $700 Neon Genesis Evangelion motherboard.

Asus’ special edition Rog Maximus Z790 Hero EVA-02 motherboard looks cool as heck, but if you look closely enough, you’ll notice something isn’t quite right. YouTuber JayzTwoCents found that Evangelion is spelled “Evangenlion” with an extra “n” on its I/O heatsink. You can even see the typo in the product images posted to Asus’ website.

Coyote vs. Acme may see the light of day after all.

After word got out that Warner Bros. Discovery canned the nearly finished live-action / CGI hybrid, Puck reports the studio will allow Coyote vs. Acme’s filmmakers to shop it elsewhere. Warner Bros. execs made the reversal after a “heated back-and-forth between the studio and reps for the director and stars,” according to Puck.

At least audiences may get to watch the film now, which stars John Cena and cost $70 million to make. That luxury was not afforded to Batgirl and Scoob! Holiday Haunt, as Warner Bros. Discovery shelved those for good.

Naughty Dog is losing another executive.

The Last of Us developer announced head of technology Christian Gyrling is leaving the company after 17 years. In addition to layoffs, Naughty Dog has seen quite a few executive departures, with co-president Evan Wells and narrative designer Josh Scherr leaving earlier this year.

Maine says MOVEit hackers accessed the information of 1.3 million people.

The state government disclosed the breach in a notice posted to its website, stating that social security numbers, birthdates, and driver’s license numbers “may have been involved” in the incident:

On May 31, 2023, the State of Maine became aware of a software vulnerability in MOVEit, a third-party file transfer tool owned by Progress Software and used by thousands of entities worldwide to send and receive data. The software vulnerability was exploited by a group of cybercriminals and allowed them to access and download files belonging to certain agencies in the State of Maine between May 28, 2023, and May 29, 2023.

It adds that anyone who wants to know whether their data was affected by the breach can contact Maine’s dedicated call center.
