After users in China reported seeing Apple Intelligence on their iPhones, Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman said these AI-powered features launched in “error” and that Apple has since taken them offline. The Chinese government currently requires Apple to partner with local companies, like Alibaba, to power AI features in the country.
BeamMP, which lets you play BeamNG.drive’s physics-based vehicle sim with friends, is offline after a hacker infiltrated its infrastructure and shut down its Discord server.
While the BeamMP team says it has “no verified reasons to believe that any end users have been ‘hacked’ as a result of the incident,” the bad actor likely accessed a “database where email addresses and encrypted passwords were stored.”
An Iran-linked group claimed responsibility for the breach and posted documents stolen from Patel’s inbox online, according to Reuters.
The DOJ has reportedly confirmed the breach, with a preliminary review by CNN finding emails from around 2011 to 2022 that “appear to include personal, business and travel correspondence that Patel had with various contacts.”
The compression algorithm works by shrinking the data stored by large language models, with Google’s research finding that it can reduce memory usage by at least six times “with zero accuracy loss.”
