Elon Musk’s $1 million America PAC giveaways may be over.

Though Musk said he’d give $1 million away daily until the election, the PAC didn’t announce a winner in the sweepstakes today. The money was only available to registered swing state voters who signed the PAC’s petition — which critics said was a clear example of buying votes.

Perhaps coincidentally, the DOJ recently warned that Musk’s lottery may be illegal.

NYC’s AI-powered subway gun scanners didn’t find a single gun.

The scanners, created by the weapon-detection company Evolv, were installed at 20 MTA stations as part of a pilot program.

Of the 2,749 scans that were done since July, none involved a gun — though 118 of them were false positives. The scanners also had issues with false positives at a Bronx hospital.

The Legal Aid Society called the pilot a “failure.”

The White House tells the Pentagon to ramp up its AI use.

The Biden administration published a national security memo requiring the military and intelligence agencies to increase their AI use and directing the government to help US companies defend their AI tools from being stolen from foreign spies.

But government agencies can’t use AI to track Americans’ speech or get around existing controls on nuclear weapons, the memo says.

X’s biggest anti-immigrant poster is... Elon Musk.

We’ve been sounding the alarm about Elon’s great replacement posts for a while, and Bloomberg just ran the numbers. Musk posts about the supposed link between immigration and voter fraud more than any other topic.

To be clear, Noncitizen voting is virtually nonexistent, despite Musk’s claims to the contrary. Even a Heritage Foundation analysis shows just 68 instances of noncitizen voting in elections since 1980.

Meta Oversight Board helpfully defines what is not sex.

The board, which oversees Meta’s content moderation policies, determined that an image of someone pinching a person’s nipple over their clothes doesn’t violate its policy prohibiting “derogatory sexualized photoshop or drawings.”

This decision didn’t come out of the blue. A user appealed to the board after Meta took down a post in which VP Kamala Harris and Gov. Tim Walz’s faces were edited onto the movie poster for Dumb and Dumber.

JD Vance’s claim that Ukrainian officials used US aid money to buy yachts originated with a Russian propaganda op.

NBC News traced the story back to a small, prolific group that researchers call Storm-1516.

Storm-1516 puts out faked primary sources, including “confessions” from fake whistleblowers. As a source put it:

“[I]t only takes one person, one influencer with outsized influence, to grab onto a video and amplify it in the United States.”
