A federal appeals court orders ICE to transfer detained Tufts student to Vermont.

Rümeysa Öztürk, who was arrested by ICE for writing an op-ed, must be moved from the Louisiana detention center where she’s being held to Vermont, a federal appeals court ruled.

The 2nd US Circuit Court of Appeals ruled that Öztürk must be detained in Vermont while a federal judge determines whether to release her from ICE custody. ICE has been detaining students in remote facilities in Louisiana, where they’re far from their attorneys and face unfriendly courts.

The judges gave ICE one week to comply with the order.

Turkey blocks imprisoned opposition leader’s X account.

Turkish authorities have banned the X account of Istanbul mayor Ekrem Imamoglu, who was jailed in March. Imamoglu had been posting daily messages from prison via his lawyers, the BBC reports.

Imamoglu, a member of the Republican People’s Party (CHP), was planning to run against President Recep Tayyip Erdogan in 2028.

Imamoglu’s account is still accessible abroad.

    Surprise, surprise.

Of the roughly 2 million crypto wallets that have bought Trump’s meme coin, a very lucky 58 of them have managed to make more than $10 million a piece off it. Everyone else hasn’t been as fortunate. In fact, 764,000 wallets have lost money on the coin.

Clearly, $TRUMP has been a resounding success. Expect to see more crypto grifting from the president and his buddies. That, my friends, is the art of the deal.

    A pyramid of pyramid schemes

Gutted watchdog agencies and unprecedented ‘influence peddling’ means unrestrained fraud.

Democrats are demanding administration officials hand over files on Elon Musk’s conflicts of interest.

Democratic members of the House Oversight Committee wrote letters (PDF) to Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth, FBI director Kash Patel, Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard, White House chief of staff Suzy Wiles, and White House chief counsel David Warrington (PDF) asking for documents detailing Musk’s government contracts, security clearances, and relationships with foreign governments and entities.

The committee is investigating Musk’s conflicts of interest, which legislators write are particularly egregious given his “extensive ties” to China, Russia, and other foreign governments.

Mohsen Mahdawi has been released from ICE detention.

The Columbia student, who was arrested during his naturalization interview, was freed from government custody after a federal judge in Vermont ordered his release. The judge reportedly compared his detention to the treatment of immigrants during the Red Scare.

Mahdawi is among the pro-Palestine student protesters who have been targeted for deportation by the Trump administration. Several others, including Mahmoud Khalil, remain in ICE detention. Several are being held in Louisiana, far from their lawyers and communities.
