Dragon Age: The Veilguard didn’t meet EA’s expectations.
The game “engaged approximately 1.5 million players during the quarter, down nearly 50% from the company’s expectations,” EA says in a pre-announcement of its preliminary Q3 earnings results. That’s a shame, because the game is pretty good.
“Global Football” — aka the EA Sports FC franchise — also didn’t do as well as EA thought it would.

Epic paid Fortnite creators a total of $352 million in 2024.
In its 2024 year-in-review post, Epic also says that “36.5% of total Fortnite playtime” happens in games made by creators, and that playtime stats are “buoyed by meaningful growth in game genres that don’t feature combat.”
Epic is fine with that; an Epic exec told us last year that “the worst outcome for us is that everything looks like battle royale.”

Matthew Griffin, who handles marketing and publishing for the Hollow Knight: Silksong, says that the game is “real, progressing and will release,” as spotted by Polygon.
The “full-scale” sequel was announced in 2019, received a release window from Xbox that it missed, and still isn’t out. At this point, I just live in the clown makeup.

Trump is discussing a 10 percent tariff on imports from China.
“We’re talking about a tariff of 10 percent on China based on the fact that they’re sending fentanyl to Mexico and Canada,” President Donald Trump said during today’s press conference where he also helped announce The Stargate Project. The administration is “looking at” imposing the tariff on February 1st.
