A jury ruled that Farmville-maker Zynga has to pay IBM almost $45 million because some Zynga games infringed on two very old IBM patents, reports Ars Technica.
Zynga, which is owned by Take-Two, says in an SEC filing that it plans to appeal and that it does not have to “modify or stop operating any of the games at issue.”

The game fantasy battle royale game was shut down, but a community version was released on Itch.io at the end of 2022 that has a thriving community around it, as reported by Aftermath. I wish more games would get second lives like this.
The FCC investigated AT&T’s “supply chain integrity” after hackers stole customer data from a vendor’s cloud environment in January 2023. “AT&T failed to ensure the vendor: (1) adequately protected the customer information, and (2) returned or destroyed it as required by contract,” the FCC says.
AT&T also entered into a consent decree as part of the settlement.

In a section on its website titled “Out in the open,” Nothing says that “a new arrival is landing on 24 Sep 2024, 14:00 BST.” (That’s 9AM ET.) The earbuds are rumored to be called the “Ear Open.”
