The FTC published a vague blog post that says the agency “will closely scrutinize any claims that competition must be impeded to advance privacy or security.” Privacy and security were Apple’s reasons for shutting down Beeper earlier this month.
But the FTC stopped short of committing to specific action against Apple — in fact, Apple isn’t mentioned in the post at all.

Bethesda has previously said that the game would be getting things like city maps and updates every six weeks, but today the studio shared a little bit more about what’s in the works, including plans for a February patch, information on mod support and new gameplay options (including “new survival mechanics”), and more.
That’s a new option for MGS in The Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection Vol. 1 thanks to a new patch that’s out now on Steam. There’s a bunch more tweaks and changes for all of the games that you can read about in the update notes. Konami says the patch will come to other platforms in “early January 2024.”
The feature is out now on the web and iOS, and OpenAI says it’s coming to Android “soon.”
Super Mario Run just got an update that adds the psychedelic Wonder Flowers from Super Mario Bros. Wonder to the Toad Rally mode, as reported by TouchArcade. In the two rounds I’ve tried, the Wonder Flowers made a bunch of golden goombas appear that I could collect like coins — not the trippiest thing, but fun enough.
The Resident Evil 4 remake, where you can hear Leon Kennedy say one of the cheesiest lines of all time (once again), is now available for the iPhone 15 Pro and iPads and Macs with M-series chips. Thanks to Universal Purchase, you can buy the game once and play it across devices without buying it again.
Hopefully RE4 can tide you over if you’ve been looking forward to the recently-delayed release of Death Stranding: Director’s Cut on Apple platforms.
