Tales of Kenzera: Zau looks like an incredible side-scrolling action game.

The trailer for the game, which was announced at The Game Awards, had an amazing art style and looked like a blast to play. It’s launching on April 23rd, 2024, and it’s coming to PlayStation, Xbox, Nintendo Switch, and PC. Next year looks like a good year for side-scrolling action games.

Also, don’t miss the emotional introduction speech from Abubakar Salim, who founded Surgent Studios, the developer behind the game.

Sega is bringing back some classics.

Sega is making new titles in the Jet Set Radio, Shinobi, Golden Axe, Streets of Rage, and Crazy Taxi franchises, according to a trailer shown at The Game Awards. Host Geoff Keighley said that they will be released over the “next several years,” so we might be waiting awhile to actually play all of them, but you can see some early footage right now.

According to a press release, this list only comprises “the first” of Sega’s legacy franchises getting new games.

Senua’s Saga: Hellblade II looks extremely intense.

Ninja Theory shared a dark and gruesome new trailer for the upcoming game at The Game Awards. I’m not sure the game is going to be fun, per se, but like Hellblade: Senua’s Sacrifice, it does look like it will be a powerful experience. It’s set to release on Xbox and PC in 2024.

    Big Walk looks big fun.

The new title from House House, the studio behind Untitled Goose Game, looks extremely charming. “Hang out and get lost with close friends in a big world,” according to the game’s Steam description. “A cooperative online walker-talker from the creators of Untitled Goose Game.”

It’s coming out in 2025 on PC via Steam and the Epic Games Store.

    Metaphor: ReFantazio looks sick.

It was announced in June, but Atlus shared a new trailer at The Game Awards. There seems to be a lot of Persona DNA in the game, but with even more over-the-top anime bombast.

It’s coming to Xbox Series X and PC in fall 2024.

Inject this one straight into my ears.

The composer of the intense music game Thumper is now making Thrasher, which like a similarly jaw-dropping musical experience. The game’s Steam listing describes it as “a mind-melting cosmic racer and an essential audiovisual experience,” and I can’t wait to try it out when it launches in 2024.

It’s coming to Quest and SteamVR first, but it will come to flatscreen platforms “sometime after,” according to a press email.

I can’t tell what’s going on, but I want to play it.

The case of the Golden Idol is getting a sequel.

The Rise of the Golden Idol is launching in 2024 on PC, PlayStation, Nintendo Switch, Xbox, and as part of Netflix’s mobile offerings. Rise will have 15 cases, according to the game’s Steam listing.

The new Golden Idol keeps up the series’ phenomenal art, though instead of a pixel-focused style, this new game looks like a painting come to life. Already one of my most anticipated games of 2024.

The creator of Inscryption’s next game is a sequel to Pony Island.

Daniel Mullins’ next game is called Pony Island 2: Panda Circus and it looks extremely weird... and awesome. Just watch the trailer.

I haven’t played Pony Island, but I loved Inscryption, an fantastic card game / horror experience that was one of the best titles of 2021, so I’m definitely looking forward to Panda Circus. It’s set to release in 2025.
