Apple’s keyboard, trackpad, and mouse still have Lightning ports.

That’s right: despite finally bringing the iPhone over to the world of USB-C, Apple still only sells its Magic Keyboard, Magic Trackpad, and Magic Mouse with Lightning ports. Also, you still have to charge the Magic Mouse from the bottom in 2023.

Why is the charging port still here???

Google is becoming an even better tool for homework.

Google Search can now better help you out with trigonometry and calculus, the company announced on Monday. I really could have used Google’s help while I was in school!

Apple has a countdown for tonight’s “Scary Fast” event.

If you visit Apple.com and hover your mouse over the glowing Apple logo, it should shift into a countdown with a similar glowy font, as spotted by 9to5Mac. Pretty cool! (If it doesn’t work for you right away, give it a sec to load or try refreshing the page.)

The event begins at 8PM ET.

President Joe Biden may issue a major executive order regarding artificial intelligence next week.

The order, expected to be issued as soon as Monday, would streamline high-skilled immigration, create a raft of new government offices and task forces and pave the way for the use of more AI in nearly every facet of life touched by the federal government, from health care to education, trade to housing, and more.

Nothing, Forever is currently nothing, forever.

The AI-generated Seinfeld-like Twitch show (which was briefly banned for transphobic content) is, as I write this, completely silent, as spotted by a Twitter user Friday morning.

I reached out to Skyler Hartle, a co-creator of the project that I spoke to earlier this year, to ask what might be going on, but I haven’t heard back.

Apple, just let us do tapbacks with whatever emoji we want.

I had been optimistic about the new sticker reactions, but based on Jason Snell’s writeup about them in the iOS 17.2 beta, they don’t sound great.

Emoji reactions are one area where Google Messages has Apple beat.
