Microsoft accidentally leaked 38TB of data, but the company says no customer data was exposed.

Cloud security researchers at Wiz found the leak and reported it to Microsoft. Here’s what was leaked, according to Microsoft (with its emphasis):

Data exposed in this storage account included backups of two former employees’ workstation profiles and internal Microsoft Teams messages of these two employees with their colleagues. No customer data was exposed, and no other internal services were put at risk because of this issue. No customer action is required in response to this issue.

Google is officially no longer selling domains.

As reported by 9to5Google, Google added this message to its Google Domains website:

Google no longer offers new domain registrations, but try Squarespace.

On September 7, 2023 Squarespace acquired all domain registrations and related customer accounts from Google Domains. Customers and domains will be transitioned over the next few months.

It’s one step that’s part of the transition from Google Domains to Squarespace.

    T2 is now Pebble.

One of the many Twitter alternatives has a new name (via TechCrunch). According to the Pebble account on Pebble:

Why Pebble? 🪨 A small stone can create waves far beyond its size. Similarly, every Pebble user has the potential to make a huge splash in our community. Here’s to the ripples we all create together!

Pebble can now also use AI to suggest posts or replies. “We want to make sure that you see great content, that you’re posting great content, and that you’re interacting with the community,” CEO Gabor Cselle said in an interview with Wired.

The 128GB iPhone 15 Pro can record 4K ProRes video — if it’s hooked up to an external drive.

The 128GB iPhone 13, Pro 14, and 15 Pro are limited to 1080p / 30fps ProRes on their own, but with the iPhone 15 Pro you can record at 4K / 60fps if it’s connected to an external drive, as reported by MacRumors. I’m glad a workaround is available for people that might want to be able to record the higher-fidelity footage.

Maybe Apple really is serious about gaming this time.

Apple executives spoke with IGN’s Taylor Lyles (a Verge alum!) this week about the iPhone 15 Pro’s gaming capabilities. Apple is predictably on-message, with one exec claiming the phone is going to be “the best game console.”

But the company does seem to be more interested in gaming than it has been in the past. In addition to marketing the iPhone 15 Pro as a great place to play games, it’s working on some cool stuff for Mac gaming, too.

I’m skeptical that the iPhone 15 Pro will actually be “the best game console,” but I’m all for Apple doing more to encourage developers make great games for its platforms.
