    Microsoft wants to build 15 data centers in Mount Pleasant, Wisconsin.

    Leaders of the village approved plans for the data centers on Wednesday, FOX6 News Milwaukee reports, and the Mount Pleasant Village Board could give final approval “as soon as Monday night.” The data centers would go on land formerly owned by Foxconn.

    Threads’ ads are rolling out globally starting next week.

    It’s the first time that’s happened, and while generative AI “led revenue growth,” it “was not the only driver,” according to the report.

    Consumers spent $85 billion in apps last year, a 21 percent increase year over year, compared to $81.8 billion in games, which was up just 1 percent.

    Nintendo released a free update to Donkey Kong Country Returns HD that adds Dixie Kong as a playable character, a “Turbo Attack” mode where you “race through high-speed versions of each level,” and, on Switch 2, “enhanced resolution, higher-definition graphics, and quicker load times.”

    YouTube says that an issue with a special captions format is temporary.

    Last week, it was reported that on videos uploaded with the SRV3 (aka YTT) format, which allows for styling captions with things like bolding and custom colors, the captions wouldn’t appear.

    But YouTube says it has “temporarily limited” uploading SRV/YTT captions “as they may cause video playback to fail for some viewers.”

    Snap reaches a settlement in a social media addiction lawsuit.

    The settlement is happening “ahead of a landmark trial in a case that claims the social media giants engineered products to hook an entire generation of young users,” The New York Times reports. Meta, TikTok, and YouTube, who are also part of the case, haven’t yet settled. Mark Zuckerberg is expected to testify.
