They’re really not called tweets anymore.

Friend of The Verge Cameron Faulkner showed me today that retweets are now called “reposts,” and as my colleague Alex Cranz wrote about recently, the old tweet button now says “post.”

I might be a bit late in noticing the changes, but I’m sad to see that the term “tweets” is pretty much gone from X. At least the official term wasn’t actually “x’s.”

Using a Mac to restore another Mac stuck in DFU mode is going to get a bit easier.

With the forthcoming macOS Sonoma update, you’ll apparently be able to do so from the Finder instead of having to install Apple Configurator (via MacRumors). Hopefully you’ll never have to worry about this, but if you do, soon there will be one less piece of the process you’ll have to remember to do.

Zuck reiterates that Threads on the web is coming soon.

He replied to me this morning to say exactly that — well, using emoji.

He said on August 4th that the feature would be arriving in “the next few weeks.” Instagram head Adam Mosseri said this week that the web version will be ready “soon” but that it “needs more work.”

Reddit says that it’s “in the early stages of revolutionizing the desktop moderator experience.”

Many mods relied on now-shuttered third-party apps for moderation, so maybe this new desktop experience will prove to be a good enough way for those mods to do their work.

Samsung’s older folding devices are getting One UI 5.1.1 starting this month.

The Z Flip 4 and Z Fold 4 get the update this month, with other Samsung foldables getting it “sequentially,” according to Samsung. One UI 5 Watch is starting to officially roll out, too.

You can read more on Samsung’s website.
