Amp is ramping down on October 31st.

We already knew that Amazon’s live radio app would be shutting down, but now, we know exactly when: October 31st, according to an email I received on Thursday:

    Dear Amp Customers,

We’ve made the difficult decision to close Amp, and the app will be deprecated on Tuesday, October 31, 2023. September was the last month of Amp’s Creator Fund, and any shows airing within the month of October will not qualify for Creator Fund rewards. The Amp referral program is now closed; final payments will be issued to referrers via the Impact platform.

Thank you for creating with us.

    Here’s the BlizzCon 2023 schedule.

The event kicks off November 3rd at 2PM ET. Check out the full broadcast schedule below — I’m guessing this has some clues about what games will be featured during the opening ceremony.

Maybe Apple will finally move the Magic Mouse’s charging port.

Bloomberg reports that Apple will “likely” introduce an updated trackpad, keyboard, and mouse with USB-C at its “Scary Fast” event on Monday, and here’s hoping Apple uses that as an opportunity to put the Magic Mouse’s charging port in a better spot. If it doesn’t, I’m going to have to write a 2023 version of this article.

Elon Musk’s Twitter, one year later

It’s been a year of personal grudges, harebrained rebrands, and jolting policy shifts. And those aren’t even the worst parts.

Meta is testing view counts and pinned posts on Threads.

The view counts are interesting to me, especially given that the platform formerly known as Twitter launched them in late 2022. “View counts are interesting as I think if we were shipping Instagram, or Facebook, today, we would probably have them,” Mosseri added. “They give people a better sense of their reach, and generally more feedback is a good thing.”

Meta announced the rollout of polls and GIFs on Threads earlier on Thursday.

The iPhone 12 is still unavailable in some French territories.

iOS 17.1 included fixes to make the iPhone 12 legal in France again, but in some French territories, it’s still not for sale. However, Apple is planning a future update for those territories “by the end of this year,” according to a machine-translated version of a webpage by French regulator ANFR.

Xiaomi’s new AI tool can make it seem like you traveled to Paris.

During Xiaomi’s 14 series launch event (the slideshow below is taken from the video), the company showed off this generative AI tool in development for its HyperOS. Fed several pictures of a particular person, it can create new photos in new places, with examples showing generated pictures of them at the base of a mountain or in front of the Eiffel Tower — like a supercharged version of HeadshotPro.

While impressive, this tool goes way farther than Google’s new generative AI photo features — is the what-is-a-photo apocalypse already here?

Arc has a way to easily share a lot of links at once to a friend — even if they don’t use Arc.

Check out in this thread on X from The Browser Company’s Patrick Moberg. Seems pretty useful!
