Techmeme is scaling back how it integrates with Twitter.
The tech news aggregator — and my former employer — has to make some changes after losing API access on Wednesday, according to CEO Gabe Rivera. You should read Rivera’s full thread for the details, but changes include an indefinite pause on tweets from @TechmemeChatter and the end of tipping via Twitter.
Rivera says that Techmeme could rebuild “most of this functionality” on the newer Twitter APIs, but the cost “just doesn’t seem like a good investment at this time, all things considered.”
