Google and Nvidia have reportedly raised some flags with Microsoft’s Activision Blizzard deal.

According to Bloomberg sources, they apparently expressed concerns about the megadeal to the FTC, which is suing Microsoft to block the purchase:

Google and Nvidia provided information that backs a key FTC contention — that Microsoft could gain an unfair advantage in the market for cloud, subscription and mobile gaming — according to the people, who asked not to be identified because the process is confidential. In its remarks to the FTC, Nvidia stressed the need for equal and open access to game titles but didn’t directly oppose the acquisition, according to one of the people.

Meta acquired yet another company for its VR efforts.

As reported by former Protocol reporter Janko Roettgers in his new Lowpass newsletter, Meta in June entered a share purchase agreement with Gary Sharp Innovations, which describes itself as a Colorado-based “optics and photonics research lab.”

It’s apparently a tiny company — LinkedIn lists just nine employees — but it marks another hardware acquisition by Meta to bolster its metaverse ambitions.

Horizon Worlds is now a little less shaky.

“We fixed a bug so that players no longer shake when on a moving platform with others so that they now remain stable,” Meta wrote about the newly released v92 of Horizon Worlds.

But Meta’s struggling VR social network still has some known bugs, according to the blog post, like creators being “unable to travel to their worlds in Build Mode.” Seems like a problem!

Skull and Bones may have been delayed yet again, but we’ll be seeing more of it very soon.

The oft-delayed pirate simulator will be missing its previous March release date, but if you want to see more of the upcoming game, Ubisoft will be hosting a video presentation on Friday at 12PM ET. In a tweet, the game’s developers promised that information on a new release date will be shared “very soon.”

Bill Gates’ daily driver? A Galaxy Z Fold 4.

In his 11th Reddit AMA, Gates says Samsung executive chairman JY Lee gave him the phone (which he called the “Samsung Fold 4,” SMH) as an update to his Z Fold 3. Nice to have friends in high places.

The rest of the AMA may not have been quite as fun for Gates; he answered some tough, highly-upvoted questions, like why he’s buying up a lot of farmland, if the climate is “super-turbo fucked,” and if there can be ethical billionaires.

Mint Mobile, which is partly owned by Ryan Reynolds, might be acquired by T-Mobile.

The two companies are apparently in talks about a potential acquisition, according to Bloomberg. Maybe T-Mobile really liked Reynolds’ new Mint Mobile ad written by ChatGPT.

Reynolds became a part owner of the budget wireless carrier in 2019, and Bloomberg reports he owns approximately a fourth of the company. The Deadpool star also owns a Welsh pro soccer team with actor Rob McElhenney.
