Some people had their Madden NFL 23 franchise saves corrupted because they happened to play at the wrong time.

If you tried to access the Madden NFL 23 Franchise server for an approximately 22-hour period between December 28th and December 29th, your save might have been corrupted, according to a post on EA’s support site. And what’s worse, EA says that it is “currently projecting around 40% of leagues to be recovered,” meaning that more than half of the people affected are seemingly out of luck just for logging in while there was a problem.

If you didn’t log in while the issues were going on, EA says your leagues are safe.

Wizards of the Coast is canceling at least five video games.

Wizards of the Coast is known for tabletop games like Dungeons & Dragons and Magic: The Gathering, but it’s pulling back on some of its video game efforts, according to Bloomberg.

However, in October, Hasbro CEO Chris Cocks (Wizards of the Coast is a subsidiary of Hasbro) said that “the trend is decisively in the direction that interactive entertainment is the future of entertainment,” so we’ll have to see if the company remains committed to video games over the long term.

Elden Ring is Steam’s Game of the Year, too.

I know, total shocker, especially after The Game Awards. Users also voted for Elden Ring to win “Best Game You Suck At,” which I’d agree with; I only beat it by farming runes.

Other notable winners: Hitman 3 for “VR Game of the Year,” Stray (the cat game) for “Most Innovative Gameplay,” and God of War (which released on PC in January 2022) for “Outstanding Story-Rich Game.” You can see the full list here.

Meta told us how much the Quest 2’s new GPU boost might affect your battery, and it’s good news.

The company doesn’t anticipate a “noticeable impact” to battery life, spokesperson David Gordon told The Verge after we first published our story, because “the additional power draw will be small and only limited to cases where the additional GPU compute is actively needed.” Happy to hear that!
