    Asha Sharma has been appointed to a Federal Reserve task force about “Productivity and Jobs.”

    The Xbox CEO, who announced mass layoffs at Xbox this week, will assess “the economic impact of new general-purpose technologies, including artificial intelligence, to inform the Federal Reserve’s policy judgments.”

    She’ll work alongside Marc Andreessen, cofounder of Andreessen Horowitz, and Charles I. Jones, a Stanford professor who is “on leave” at Anthropic.

    As YouTube starts to look more and more like TV, the company now lets Partner Program creators make playlists that function as “shows,” which offer a “polished TV experience for your series.” YouTube has been working on them for a while.

    The first two Call of Duty: Black Ops games are now available on PS5 and PS4 for $39.99… each.

    As noted by Push Square, the games also have separate season passes that cost $29.99, meaning the total for both titles with all of their content is just under $140. Oof. However, if you subscribe to PlayStation Plus, you can buy the games and their passes at a significant discount ($19.99 per game, $9.89 per season pass) until August 6th.

    In a court filing, The New York Times and other publications have accused OpenAI of withholding evidence.

    The publishers want legal sanctions for OpenAI, and they claim it hasn’t shared information about how “the company’s A.I. systems are trained and used,” according to The New York Times.

    Bethesda has reportedly lost more than 50 staffers as part of the Xbox layoffs.

    That includes “key, high-performing people in the trenches” working on The Elder Scrolls 6, IGN reports. One Bethesda staffer told the publication that the layoffs have had “a crushing effect on morale,” and one said that the QA department was “decimated.”

    Sony settles with a former Marathon director who had been fired after an internal investigation over misconduct.

    Bloomberg reported on Chris Barrett’s firing in August 2024, and Barrett sued Sony and Bungie that December. On Wednesday, Barrett said he is “very satisfied” with the settlement, and a joint statement noted that Barrett has been added to Marathon’s credits as the original game director, as reported by Kotaku.
