The SwitchBot Hub 2 ($69) is now available for pre-order and makes its curtain and blind controllers compatible with Matter. This brings Apple Home integration to these devices, as well as to the hub’s built-in temperature, humidity, and light sensors. I’ve been testing the Hub 2 and will have a full review soon.

Why the industry still struggles with this basic problem is baffling, but at least the new smart home standard Matter is trying to solve it.

Z-Wave, the organization behind the survey, has a head start here as all Z-Wave products are backward compatible. But — and here’s the rub — as of right now Matter and Z-Wave still don’t work together.

The covers snap onto the speaker and add some much-needed color to the current options. I love to see more adventurous decor in the smart home — and don’t forget, you can pair two of these speakers with a Sonos Arc or Beam sound bar for surround sound with some serious style. The new covers go on sale in April.
