Apple gives iPhone 14 users another year of free Emergency SOS satellite calling.

Marking a year since Apple’s Emergency SOS via satellite service became available in the US and Canada, anyone who activated their free trial prior to November 15th now has an additional year of free access.

If you haven’t done so already, here’s how to set it up.

Trump’s Truth Social is at least $31.5 million in the hole.

On Monday, a new securities filing revealed that the former president’s social media platform has now suffered at least a $31.5 million net loss — $23M of which came in the first half of 2023 — since launching in February 2022. (The company claims to have made $50m in profits last year mostly due to “change in fair value of derivative liabilities,” which you are free to read any way you want.)

According to the filing, Trump Media & Technology Group’s accountants have raised “substantial doubt” about the platform’s future without help from that long delayed SPAC merger.

Correction: Reuters initially reported the loss at $73m, not $31.5m. We’ve updated the piece to reflect that amount and the $50m in claimed 2022 profits.

The Android 14 rollout timeline posted by Sammobile only applies to the European market, but other regions shouldn’t be far behind. After hitting S23 owners in the US this weekend, the One UI 6.0 update is expected today for A34, A54, Z Flip 5, and Z Fold 5 users in Europe, with most remaining phones expected by the end of the year.

OneDrive won’t demand to know why you’re closing it anymore.

Here’s Microsoft’s justification for introducing that annoying OneDrive prompt in a statement sent to The Verge:

Between Nov. 1 and 8, a small subset of consumer OneDrive users were presented with a dialog box when closing the OneDrive sync client, asking for feedback on the reason they chose to close the application. This type of user feedback helps inform our ongoing efforts to enhance the quality of our products.

    Regardless, it’s gone.

Meta has a new ‘lower-priced’ Quest VR headset coming.

The Wall Street Journal reports that it will be sold in China and “other markets” as well, and will use cheaper lenses than the Quest 3, but features a more powerful GPU than the older Quest 2. Despite leaving China 14 years ago, Meta’s return will be made possible through a preliminary deal with gaming giant Tencent. The news comes amid weakening demand for VR hardware.
