ChatGPT is helping hustlers hold down multiple full-time jobs.

One individual in the self-referred “overemployed” community claims in an interview with Vice that OpenAI’s chatbot automates around 80 percent of his work, ranging from writing product releases to messaging his boss on Slack.

Overemployment isn’t anything new, but a person using generative AI to hog many jobs is a zesty spin on fears that an AI workforce will eventually replace us entirely.

AI-generated music is shuffling toward an intellectual property nightmare.

Universal Music Group (UMG) has allegedly urged streaming platforms like Spotify and Apple Music to crack down on AI-music services that are training off of their copyrighted music libraries.

It’s not clear exactly what the streaming services can do. In the meantime, UMG has been issuing takedown requests on AI-generated songs appearing on the platforms and warned that it “will not hesitate” to protect the rights of its artists.

For sale: Embark ‘self-driving’ trucks, never used.

Autonomous trucking startup Embark Trucks is selling off 37 “surplus assets” in a short notice sale after announcing back in March that the company would be shutting down, Ten of the Peterbilt Model 579 trucks up for grabs were originally purchased this year so you could drive away (or perhaps be driven away) with a bargain.

    FREE PORN.

It’s “Stuff Your Kindle” day today, an unofficial 24-hour promotion in which authors give away hundreds of free ebooks across Amazon, Google Play, Apple Books, and more.

The event is broadly specific to romance titles, including contemporary, young adult, LGBTQ+, fantasy, and yes — erotica. It’s definitely worth checking out if you’ve been enticed by any BookTok recommendations.

News outlets respond to Twitter Blue coercion with a resounding ‘meh.’

Twitter is removing blue checkmarks from legacy verified accounts tomorrow, which begs the question: which newsrooms will pony up for Twitter Blue so their staff remains verified?

“Not many” appears to be the answer, at least If the pool interviewed by BuzzFeed is anything to go by. For what it’s worth, Vox Media (our parent company) won’t be paying for staff Twitter Blue subscriptions, either.

    Who Delivers? Employees apparently.

Grubhub has been ordered to pay $65.11 in minimum wage violations to a former driver after a federal court ruling in Los Angeles recognized him as an employee, and not an independent contractor.

The ruling could cost the gig economy industry a lot more than that if it impacts whether other ride-hailing and food delivery drivers qualify for employment benefits like overtime and minimum wage under California law.
