‘Help me write’ appears on mobile.

At I/O last month Google announced that its generative AI writing tool, “Help me write,” would be coming to Gmail’s mobile app. Now, 9to5Google is reporting that it’s rolling out to iOS and Android users signed up to Google’s early access Workspace Labs initiative. That said, it’s not appearing on my iOS app in the UK, so your mileage may vary.

Because who doesn’t love wired networking.

Nine months after its announcement, Eero’s PoE Gateway is now available. PoE stands for “power over ethernet,” meaning the gateway’s eight 2.5 gigabit ethernet ports can provide up to 100W of combined power to everything from VoIP phones to security cameras without plugging into a standard outlet. There are also two non-powered 10 gigabit ports included for good measure. Happy networking.

Adobe’s generative AI tech comes to Illustrator.

Just weeks after integrating its Firefly tech with Photoshop, Adobe is bringing its AI tool to Illustrator. The feature, dubbed “Generative Recolor,” is designed to help users “quickly experiment with colors using simple text prompts.” The GIF below should give you some idea of what it’s capable of.

It’ll be available as a beta feature starting today, Adobe says.

“Product of Thailand. Final assembly in the USA.”

Apple made a big deal that its 2019 Mac Pro was “made in Texas.” But MacRumors found an FCC filing for the 2023 Mac Pro that paints a slightly different picture. A reminder to take any Made in the USA claims with a pinch of salt.

Starfield runs at 30fps on consoles for ‘consistency.’

Starfield, the hotly anticipated sci-fi RPG from Bethesda, will run at 30fps on Xbox.

“It’s often running way above [30]. Sometimes it’s 60,” Starfield game director Todd Howard said in an interview with IGN. “But on the consoles, we do lock it because we prefer the consistency.” Xbox chief Phil Spencer defended the choice as a “creative decision” instead of it being a platform limitation.

Vivo exits Germany like Oppo and OnePlus.

Vivo is no longer selling smartphones in Germany from its online store, a message on its website reads, a little under a year after OnePlus and Oppo announced the same thing. All three brands are owned by Chinese conglomerate BBK Electronics.

The trio exited the market due to a dispute with Nokia, which accused the companies of using its patented technologies without paying to license them.
