The tape mod is a cheap and easy way to make your keyboard sound a little nicer. It’s also easy to explain — unless you’re whatever AI wrote one of the top Google results for “keyboard tape mod.” Several things have gone horribly wrong.
The perfect keyboard has Bluetooth, USB-C, Topre switches, and an iconic and practical layout, and it’s on sale through Cyber Monday. Black or grey models start at $281, or $337 for the silenced Type-S version. The new all-white Type-S Snow edition is $357. Is that still a lot? Yes. But look at it.

I got a set of AirTags while traveling in Europe this summer, just in case my bags joined the tens of thousands of others in luggage limbo. They didn’t, but it was nice having the peace of mind. And now I have some AirTags. Neat!

The Pixel Watch uses a proprietary strap system, but this photo of the leather strap, from Vee Song’s hands-on, makes me wonder if there are standard spring bars holding the band to the lugs. And if not, why not?
