X is now blocking links to the Adrian Dittmann story and its supporting research.

After a report by The Spectator that “Adrian Dittmann” is not an Elon Musk alt account, X has suspended the reporter’s account and two researchers who say they found the information and blocked linking to either article.

This, even after Musk replied to the original tweet, saying “I am Adrian Dittmann. It’s time the world knew.”

How did the whole drones-over-New Jersey story start?

According to this New York Times writeup, the first noted sighting was from a contractor enjoying a sandwich and a podcast while enjoying nature, who saw something in his rearview mirror.

    Now, the unnamed man says:

As he’s watched the drone frenzy spread across the country, he said he can’t help but worry he’s to blame.

“I feel,” he said, “like I’ve caused mass hysteria.”

FAA expands New Jersey drone restrictions.

The FAA banned drone flights temporarily in 22 areas a few weeks ago. Bans for parts of New York closely followed, and as CBS News reports, the list grew a bit longer this week, with warnings that the government ‘may use deadly force’ on UAVs flying there.

The new Temporary Flight Restriction (TFR) areas are over Paulsboro, Westville, South Kearny, Port Reading, Atlantic Highlands, Belford, Fort Hancock, Highlands, and Linden through January 18th.

Turo confirms it rented out the electric trucks used in New Orleans and Las Vegas.

On New Year’s Day, a man drove an F-150 Lightning into crowds along Bourbon Street in “an act of terrorism,” killing 15 people and injuring about 30 others. Hours later, a Cybertruck from Colorado exploded outside Donald Trump’s Las Vegas hotel, killing the driver and injuring seven.

A statement confirms that “both involved vehicles rented on Turo.”

Our trust and safety team is actively partnering with law enforcement authorities to share any information that could be helpful in their investigations. We do not believe that either renter had a criminal background that would have identified them as a security threat, and we are not currently aware of any information that indicates the two incidents are related.

What can the PS5 Pro do for Call of Duty: Black Ops 6?

The folks at Digital Foundry have a video and writeup of all the ways the latest Call of Duty takes advantage of the “most powerful PlayStation ever” despite being published by Microsoft-owned Activision.

Some issues with PSSR artifacts need to be straightened out, but the anti-lag VRR feature and enhanced 120Hz mode add something for the Pro’s extra cost.

    Salt Typhoon breach update.

Bloomberg quotes White House official Anne Neuberger saying, “...we still see companies not doing the basics” in a briefing about its investigation into the telecom breaches attributed to Chinese espionage that have led to officials recommending using secure messaging.

Officials believe the goal of the hackers was to identify who owned the phones and, if they were “government targets of interest,” spy on their texts and phone calls, she said.

The FBI said most of the people targeted by the hackers are “primarily involved in government or political activity.

Sony’s stats hint at who the PlayStation Portal is for.

Sony’s handheld seems to have found an audience since launching a year ago, and this info may help explain who that is. With usage that peaks an hour after the PS5, Sony’s exec figures people use their Portal while the family’s big screens are otherwise occupied, something that could be even better now that Sony’s testing cloud streamed PS5 games.
