Microsoft: ‘We’re committed to making Windows the best place to play.’

Microsoft seems to have gotten the message that Linux is becoming real competition and that the Xbox Ally needs more work! “[W]e will continue refining system behaviors that matter most to gaming: background workload management, power and scheduling improvements, graphics stack optimizations, and updated drivers,” the company writes.

Samsung memory is nearly as big as Samsung Galaxy.

I knew Samsung made lots of money making chips, not just electronics. But Emma’s RAM report puts it in perspective: Last quarter, the company earned nearly twice as much from memory as from its entire TV and appliance business.

Samsung’s mobile biz was still bigger than memory ($22.8B vs. $18.2B), but not by much!

Xtra’s DJI Osmo 360 clone is here and it costs more than the original.

Remember Xtra, the company that lets DJI sneak its popular cameras into the US? Its version of DJI’s Osmo 360 just arrived today for $549 — or $400 on early-bird discount. Thing is, the original DJI Osmo 360 can be had for $358 right now on sale basically everywhere it’s sold. Weird!

My friend who’s never flown a drone had a blast with the Antigravity A1.

I don’t have a full review of this awesome drone today, but I can’t get over how easy it is to fly (once you power everything on)! I’ve updated my story with some pros, cons, a few key specs, pricing and price comparisons, and impressions from other reviewers now that the embargo has lifted.

Google’s AI news bot is still confused but no longer replacing our headlines.

After the whole “BG3 players exploit children” thing, it seems Google got the message. Its bot is still spitting nonsense like “Prebuilts beat DIY builds” and it’s linking to unrelated stories instead of my scoop, but small victories, right?

<em>Google’s summary is all about <a href="https://thevergetoday.pages.dev/report/820656/valve-interview-arm-gaming-steamos-pierre-loup-griffais">my story</a>... so why is Google linking to <a href="https://www.ign.com/articles/steam-machine-vs-playstation-5">this unrelated story at IGN</a>?</em>
    <em>Another mismatch: <a href="https://www.rockpapershotgun.com/dont-expect-a-steamos-phone-after-the-steam-machine-valve-engineer-says">Rock Paper Shotgun’s story</a> is about <a href="https://thevergetoday.pages.dev/report/820656/valve-interview-arm-gaming-steamos-pierre-loup-griffais">my story</a> but the summary is about <a href="https://thevergetoday.pages.dev/news/837524/valves-android-compatibility-layer-now-has-its-official-name-lepton-and-a-cute-frog-logo">a different story entirely</a>.</em>
<em>“Prebuilts beat DIY builds” is clickbait, but at least it’s not overwriting the real headline.</em>
<em>“Cushing CGI claim advances” still sounds silly but the summary is better and more prominent.</em>

Today I’m toying with the OhSnap MCON.

The viral sliding gamepad designed by a 19-year-old is nearly here — with big differences from last year! Satisfying snap, nice controls, pairs with lots of devices including Switch 2. But it’s $150, and thick. I also had slightly peeling magnets, but Ohsnap says that’s fixed for mass production.

Steam Machine today, Steam Phones tomorrow

The Steam Frame is a Trojan horse carrying Arm’s gaming future.

The DJI Osmo Pocket 4 has cleared the FCC — will we get it before the ban?

As I recently explained, DJI is facing an imminent US import ban — on top of customs scrutiny and tariffs that axed official launches for the Mavic 4 Pro, Mini 5 Pro, and Neo 2 here. But you can find some of those via certain sellers including Amazon and Newegg... maybe the OP4 will slip through too?
