Japan’s most popular EV may get a slide-out solar roof that doubles as sunshade.

The $15,000 Nissan Sakura kei car is breaking records in Japan — and I badly want this new prototype version with an always-active solar roof that nearly doubles in size when you park. At 500W, Nissan estimates it can add 1,864 miles of range per year. Here’s the YouTube video.

Microsoft officially confirms it’s testing a free, ad-supported version of Xbox Cloud Gaming.

Three weeks ago today, we reported how Microsoft’s prepping a free version of its Xbox cloud gaming service. While quizzing the company about bringing its new Halo remake to rival PlayStation, The New York Times also got “a Microsoft official” to confirm it’s internally testing the free ad-supported service.

Intel just saw its first profit in nearly two years.

While we wait to see if Intel’s all-important 18A Panther Lake chips make a dent, the company is temporarily back in black, thanks to $5.7B of the money Trump used to shake down Intel for a stake, $5.2B from selling Altera, and $2B from Softbank. Foundry is still losing money.

I bought Hallmark’s light-and-sound Xbox 360 Christmas ornament and here it is.

That was fast! I slapped down my $29 the day we wrote about Hallmark’s new ornament and it’s already here. Watch when I press the power button — and see how it compares to my Sega Genesis one Hallmark released in 2022! There’s an NES, SNES and OG Xbox too.

The spider router with AI has arrived.

If you thought it was just a CES concept that Asus would kill with fire, I’m sorry to bring bad news: the Asus ROG Rapture GT-BE19000AI has arrived for $900 at Best Buy. It’ll be at Newegg tomorrow. It’s “just” a tri-band Wi-Fi 7 device, so AI is the “draw” here.
