PSA: Bambu’s upcoming 3D printer update breaks compatibility with third-party software and PandaTouch screens.

Bambu says it’s significantly enhancing the security of its printers with its optional v01.08.03.00 firmware — but you won’t be able to control the printer directly from other slicers anymore, or even the third-party touchscreen you might have added to your P1.

Bambu tells The Verge it’ll explain the move more next week.

Why does the DJI Flip exist?

That’s the big question online — because the unique bicycle-spoke folding drone isn’t smaller or more powerful than DJI’s Mini drones. But it’s inexpensive, does do a few things they don’t — yet — and it’s fun to fold and unfold! Check it out in my video:

Nothing phones do best in India — but the company’s planning a bigger US push in 2026.

That’s according to Bloomberg’s sources, who say Germany and the UK are the company’s #2 and #3 biggest markets for phones, while earbuds sell best in the US, then the UK, Germany, and Japan.

As Nothing founder Carl Pei knows quite well from his time at OnePlus, you can’t truly push hard into the US without strong Verizon support. Here’s hoping!

Intel is getting a little smaller — it’s cutting its venture capital arm loose.

We used to write things like “Intel leads $21 million investment in Tobii’s eye-tracking system,” but that might become harder: Intel Capital, a division which invested $20B in over 1,800 companies, is spinning out into its own firm later in 2025.

It’s not surprising to see Intel shrink a bit amidst its recent troubles. Here’s Intel Capital’s current portfolio.

Hey that’s me, chatting about the Intel / Quanta prototype modular handheld concept that surprised me at CES.

Ever wanted to have dinner with The Verge’s staff, shooting the shit about gadgets? Here’s the next best thing: we filmed a roundtable chat over our actual team dinner at CES in Las Vegas; this clip is just a taste.

If you’d rather have more photos and not-quite-details about this prototype, find ‘em here.

I played with the new Legion Go 2, too.

The SteamOS and/or Windows-toting Lenovo Legion Go S was the best handheld of CES 2025, but it wasn’t the only Lenovo portable I took for a spin! The third time was the charm for this detachable-controller and kickstand Legion Go 2 prototype, which I found working at the third venue I encountered it.
