    Doom developers are the latest to unionize at Microsoft.

    id Software, which created Doom and Quake, announced on Friday that they’ve voted to join the Communication Workers of America.

    They’re now among a growing number of game developers, artists, designers, producers, and engineers under Microsoft who have chosen to unionize, including Bethesda and the teams working on Diablo, World of Warcraft, and Overwatch.

    Starting next year, the updated remote for LG Smart TVs will have a button for Haystack News – a free, ad-supported streaming service with content from over 400 local, national, and international news sources. Smart TVs running webOS 25 or later will also get access to the News Portal, a hub for Haystack News, live news, podcasts, and other content from major news outlets.

    AI toys can’t stop having inappropriate conversations with kids.

    New testing by NBC News shows AI toys chatting about risky topics with kids is even more widespread than initially reported. They caught a range of AI-embedded toys from various brands answering questions about subjects like sex, drugs, politics, and instructions on sharpening knives.

    Britain’s Prime Minister has vowed to ‘look into’ the firing of 31 GTA VI developers.

    PM Keir Starmer was asked about the firings at Rockstar Games in a Prime Minister’s Questions session on Wednesday, as reported by Kotaku.

    Starmer called the situation “deeply concerning,” saying, “Our ministers will look into the particular case the member raises and will keep him updated.”

    Everyone asks Copilot for relationship advice in February, according to a new study.

    The study (pdf) analyzed 37.5 million de-identified Copilot conversations to show patterns in how people interacted with AI, but are we that surprised there’s a spike in existential questions around 2AM?

    The researchers suggested more variety in AI beyond the standard chatbot approach, with different skills and personalities for different devices, such as more personal AI models for mobile platforms.
