    10-percent boos? Well, that’s now a weighty 10-percent, Elon.

New York’s saddest club is T-Mobile.

T-Mobile’s latest stunt is this “ATM” that gives people free money and looks like it’s the VIP section of the world’s lamest club. It’s almost 10 years since T-Mobile became the “Uncarrier”, which came with some genuinely good ideas about disrupting the mobile industry.

But its classic silly stunts are only getting sadder as the company slowly becomes the thing it once hated.

    Losing is “fun.”

I’ve been fascinated by player stories from Dwarf Fortress for years, but never got the courage to try it — until this week, when it came out with modern graphics. So far the only story I have encountered is: “all of your dwarves die horribly in the first week.” Somehow it’s already the best $30 I’ve spent in a while.

Now we know what it’s like to stand on Planet Universal.

The movies are changed forever. I’ll never look at this logo opener in theaters the same way again.

H&R Block customers sue Meta for collecting their financial data.

That didn’t take long! On November 22nd, we co-published an in-depth report from The Markup that revealed multiple tax filing websites had been quietly sending a bunch of sensitive financial info to Meta through the Meta Pixel. While Meta says it doesn’t want to receive that kind of information, the suit alleges that the company did basically nothing to stop it.

Apple CEO Tim Cook demonstrates expert Congressional calm.

Fox News confronted Apple CEO Tim Cook in the halls of Congress, asking him leading questions that nonetheless arguably ought to be answered. That said — don’t let spin confuse you; reporters often stalk the halls of Congressional office buildings looking for answers and don’t receive them from actual members of Congress. There’s no way Cook would have stopped to talk to anyone in this setting,

I think you should stay, I think you should leave.

Good news for people who love awkward situations: Netflix has confirmed the start of production for season 3 of I Think You Should Leave. We don’t normally cover this kind of incremental update in the world of film and television, but it’s a big deal for a bunch of Verge staff. If there’s one thing we endorse it’s Netflix giving Tim Robinson a blank check.

Even NFL stars are Grand Theft Auto roleplayers now.

Every day on Twitch, modded versions of GTA V power an unprecedented storytelling platform for live, unscripted shows that are often watched by hundreds of thousands of people simultaneously. For all of the billions spent on the metaverse, a nearly 10-year-old video game is proving to be a far more interesting story about coming together online.

Paying $8 a month for Twitter seems like a bad deal.

Unless you’re someone who absolutely needs to appear in the mentions of an official Twitter user. But even then, you really need to have something useful to say — a one-time troll isn’t going to give you much value. Elon Musk still hasn’t articulated why paying for Twitter will bring the average person value, and at $8 a month, he’s competing with streaming services that offer much more than a cosmetic blue checkmark.
