The US attacked Venezuela and arrested president Nicolás Maduro.

Early on Saturday morning, American forces struck multiple sites inside Venezuela, including a large-scale assault on Caracas, and arrested President Nicolás Maduro and his wife. The two are expected to stand trial in New York for drug and weapons charges.

In a press conference later in the day, President Trump said that the US would “run” Venezuela for an indeterminate period of time, though no further detail was provided. He also suggested that American oil companies would be allowed to swoop in and take control of Venezuela’s vast oil reserves.

You can stress test your foldable phone with a Flappy Bird clone.

If you’re Samsung or Google, you probably put your folding screens through the wringer with fancy machinery. If you’re a resourceful developer and infosec expert, you build a Flappy Bird clone that you control by flapping your phone like wings. If you’re not particularly worried about your foldable, you can play Foldy Bird here.

Why hang a painting in your home, when you can tell an AI to put slop on your wall?

The Fraimic Smart Canvas is a framed E-ink screen being shown off for the first time at CES 2026. It’s meant to mimic your typical wall art but, because nothing is sacred, instead of showing an actual painting or a photo by a human, it displays AI “art” generated by your voice prompts. The Smart Canvas is available for preorder in two sizes, standard for $399 and large for $999, though deliveries aren’t expected until June.

You can download Andromeda OS, the canceled Windows build intended for Surface Duo.

When Microsoft was first developing the Surface Duo, it was originally intended to run a Windows 10-based OS code-named Andromeda that looked a lot like Windows Phone. Of course, the company ended up canning those plans, opting to make the Duo Android-based instead.

But you can now get your hands on an unstable build of Andromeda and see what might have been.

The engineer behind the arrow that tells you what side your fuel tank is on has died.

James Moylan passed away on December 11th at the age of 80. Moylan spent 34 years at Ford, where, according to Jalopnik, he came up with the “Moylan Arrow” in April 1986. The tiny arrow that helps you avoid pulling up on the wrong side of the fuel pump is so simple that it seems like it could have been there from the start, but it actually made its debut on the 1989 Ford Escort and Mercury Tracer.
