Wahoo takes on Garmin and Strava.

Wahoo is revamping its app to expand beyond its core cycling hardware to become a “connected training ecosystem.” And that means subscriptions. Under its new three-tier model, basic Wahoo device support is still free; $4.99/month adds performance analytics, insights, and training load tracking for self-guided athletes; and $17.99/month adds structured training guidance.

I hope the app can calculate the drag coefficient of that moustache.

That “VW” e-bike has a radar-activated rear-view mirror.

Rear-facing radar is already an add-on for roadies, and comes integrated into some high-end eSUV bikes. Now N+, the company responsible for the Mercedes-branded e-bikes, is taking things a step further by linking it to a video camera visible on the display of its €3,999 VW-branded e-bike.

That display will likely be on all the time during urban commutes. Likely more useful riding in the sticks.
The display is also a dashboard.
That VW logo looks… wrong.
It’s also available in this so-called “crossover” model.

Sergey Brin spends over $100 million to fight wealth tax.

The Google co-founder, and world’s fourth-richest person, has spent $102 million so far to put a stop to the one-time, five percent tax on the wealth of California billionaires, according to filings tallied by Bloomberg. California voters can have their say on Proposition 40 for free come November.

Tesla Roadster is coming “very soon.” No extra really!

Tesla’s chief car designer Franz von Holzhausen said the second generation Roadster is coming “very soon,” while eagerly rubbing his hands together on the latest episode of Jay Leno’s Garage. What was hailed as “the quickest production car ever made” when announced in 2017, has so far missed its 2020, 2022, 2023, 2024 and 2025 dates. Will 2026 be any different?

Don’t do a Trump.

Do not look directly at the sun during tomorrow’s total solar eclipse, the first in mainland Europe in nearly 30 years. Also, do not eat bleach, no matter the day.

Do, however, follow our advice on how to buy a pair of certified glasses, make a pinhole projector, and steps and gear needed to photograph the celestial event.

The first Tesla Cybercab with integrated Starlink.

No specs or timeframe accompanied the photos, or even a justification for why you’d want satellite internet in a taxi that targets dense urban environments where cellphone signal is strong. The car certainly doesn’t need it to drive, but, as Electrek notes, it’s a nice recurring revenue stream for SpaceX, and further justification for the two companies to merge and make Richie Rich another $1 trillion richer.

Ballie refuses to die.

Samsung’s adorable rolling robot was never officially killed off, but it also never made it to retail as promised. SammyGuru just discovered an unmistakable Ballie-looking icon inside an official Samsung app during an APK teardown. More proof of life or just another death rattle?

Elon Musk’s shortcut to a $1 trillion payday.

An escape clause in Elon Musk’s $1 trillion Tesla pay package approved last year would eliminate daunting operational targets if SpaceX were to purchase Tesla, as many expect. Under the terms, an acquisition treats those performance goals as met. Depending on the acquisition price SpaceX sets for Tesla, which Musk can heavily influence, a merger could instantly award him hundreds of millions of Tesla shares and consolidate his voting control.

SwitchBot’s app now has an AI assistant.

Kata promises to “help users control devices, create automations, set up products, and troubleshoot issues simply by typing or speaking what they need.” It requires SwitchBot App version 9.29 or later.

Bob Ross comes to LG Gallery Plus.

Is the inclusion of “happy little trees” in ad-loving LG’s digital art gallery enough of a reason to connect its TVs to the internet. Probably not.

If this is your house maybe you should consider buying original art instead?
