Microsoft’s Xbox chief, Phil Spencer, has teased a “big update” coming to the Xbox app on PC. In a wide-ranging interview, Spencer says the app update will arrive within the next two weeks. He also reiterates that Call of Duty will remain on PlayStation if the Activision deal closes.

Joe Belfiore, a 32-year Microsoft veteran and the face of Windows Phone, is retiring from the software giant. Belfiore has been Microsoft’s corporate vice president of Office for the past two years, but before that he was key in launching Windows Phone, Windows 10, and Microsoft’s early Media Center efforts. Belfiore will stay on until the summer before retiring from Microsoft to focus on his family.
Microsoft is working on a new instant phone hotspot feature for its Phone Link app on Windows 11. It sounds like a really easy way to quickly start your phone’s hotspot and connect to it without ever touching your phone. It’s in testing right now, and will work with any Samsung phone with One UI 4.1.1 or above.
AMD isn’t planning to follow Nvidia and use the new 12VHPWR power connector on its RDNA 3 GPUs. AMD’s Radeon chief, Scott Herkelman, confirmed its plans on Twitter. The new 12VHPWR connector shipped on Nvidia’s RTX 4090 cards. Nvidia is now investigating reports of power cables melting or burning, after reliability concerns around bending the cables or adapters.
