Samsung might have a Galaxy Ring planned for 2024.

9to5 Google has spotted some code snippets in the Galaxy Wearable app referencing a Galaxy Ring and a potential release date in 2024. The smart ring is expected to be similar to the Oura Ring in that it’s primarily envisioned as a health tracker.

We’ve heard rumors about this before when Samsung filed a patent for a smart ring last fall. But as I’ve written before, smart rings still have a long way to go before they’re a truly viable wearable form factor.

Apple has a new head for its blood glucose tracking team.

Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman reports that Tim Millet has taken over Apple’s secretive division exploring noninvasive blood glucose monitoring. Millet is currently Apple’s VP of platform architecture and was an important figure in transitioning from Intel chips to Apple Silicon.

That said, I would take any news of progress toward noninvasive blood glucose monitoring on the Apple Watch (or any wearable!) with several grains of salt. I did a deep dive into this topic earlier this year and after speaking with a few experts in the field, this tech is still quite a ways off from ever reaching consumers.

Victoria Song has spent some time with the new Apple Watch Series 9 and the new Apple Watch Ultra 2, which look... a lot like the previous models. Even the bright new screen on the Ultra was hard to test indoors at Apple’s iPhone 15 launch event.

But inside these wearables, there’s a new S9 SiP (System in Package) and a new ultra wideband chip, and she was able to try out the new Double Tap control feature.
