Nintendo’s Splatoon 3 gets the band treatment, and it slaps.

Nintendo released an orchestral performance of music from The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom yesterday in lieu of its canceled Tokyo Live 2024 event.

This one’s a little different, featuring several bands doing Splatoon 3 up in a way that would feel right at home on stage at video game art festival MAGFest.

It’s the end of the road for Windows Mixed Reality.

After announcing in December that it had deprecated Windows Mixed Reality, Microsoft has released a new Insider Preview Build (26052) without the feature.

The company writes in a blog post that Windows Mixed Reality headsets won’t work from this build onward, including for SteamVR and SteamVR Beta. Users can still use mixed reality headsets with Steam until November 2026 if they don’t update from Windows 11 version 23H2. “This deprecation does not impact HoloLens,” the company added.

Notion is acquiring privacy-focused Skiff platform.

Skiff’s privacy-centric Google Workspace alternative is coming under the Notion umbrella as it moves further into the productivity space with things like AI features, and the recent launch of Notion Calendar.

That’s not how you get into The Sphere.

Maison DesChamps climbed around and found out earlier today when he was removed from the top of The Sphere in Las Vegas, Nevada, and arrested, along with several others, reports ABC Channel 13 News.

Here’s the cost of running Death Stranding on the iPhone 15 Pro.

Digital Foundry takes a look at Death Stranding’s performance on Apple’s iOS and macOS platforms. The iPhone 15 Pro version takes a hit, DF says, with performance issues and smeary, low-resolution rendering.

That’s been my experience with other recent iPhone console ports, like Resident Evil 4 or Village, but if you own an M-series Mac, the iOS version ends up being a happy bonus, since Death Stranding supports Universal Purchases.

    Tim Cook, Usher superfan?

The fact that Apple’s CEO didn’t answer Luda’s call with “Good morning!” seems like a missed opportunity in this Apple Music commercial ahead of the 2024 Super Bowl, but nobody asked me.

Cook does sell being really upset that they can’t seem to find Usher, though. (I think he’s hanging out over in that BMW commercial.)

Squarespace gets a Martin Scorsese film under its belt.

How will we notice aliens hovering overhead when we’re all too busy scrolling? They’ll make a Squarespace website, obviously.

That’s the goofy premise, anyway, of Hello Down There, a Scorsese-directed Squarespace Super Bowl commercial.

Google showcases AI accessibility in a new ad.

The AI-powered Guided Frame feature that debuted on the Pixel 7 describes what’s in the selfie camera’s frame. In this Google commercial (audio descriptions version here) for Super Bowl 2024, director Adam Morse, who is blind, attempts to show how a person with low vision might experience it.

    “We throw the child.”

When I was still watching reruns of Star Trek: The Next Generation twice a week on UPN in high school and listening to Creed’s Human Clay album on repeat (to my shame), I never saw those two things colliding.

But here we are, and as conflicted as I feel about this Paramount Plus Super Bowl ad’s mash-up, I’m calling it a net good.
