Yamaha is bailing on e-bikes in the US.

After cruising onto the scene in 2018, Yamaha told e-bike dealers that it’s ending its US e-bike business due to the “significant softening” and “oversupply” after the pandemic-fueled e-bike boom, reports Electrek.

The company said it will continue offering an up to 60 percent discount program for bikes “retailed and warranty registered” through June 30th, 2025.

    “Yo-ho, row-ho with Mario & Luigi.”

The Nintendo Switch is going out with a bang.

I’d say some bangers, too, after hearing the catchy sea shanty from this new trailer for Mario & Luigi: Brothership, which will add to the Switch’s pleasingly robust Mario RPG catalog.

Mastodon instance botsin.space is shutting down.

The long-running instance hosts some of the fediverse’s great bots, like one that imagines the Google Searches of Star Trek: TNG’s Commander Riker. Another is posting 2001: A Space Odyssey, one frame at a time (which could take about five years).

Blaming ongoing expenses, botsin.space creator Colin Mitchell writes in a blog post that, starting not long after December 15th, it will go read-only until March 2025.

    RIP botsin.space

Republicans might repeal, no wait, “streamline” the CHIPS Act.

When asked if his party will try to repeal the bipartisan act, which Presidential candidate Donald Trump recently told Joe Rogan is “so bad,” House Speaker Mike Johnson said he expects the GOP “probably will,” writes The Associated Press.

Johnson made the initial comment while campaigning for a vulnerable New York GOP congressman in a district that is anticipating a large new Micron semiconductor manufacturing plant.

He reportedly quickly said he’d rather “streamline” the act, which has poured billions of dollars into spurring semiconductor manufacturing in the US.

Apple’s now selling a braided Thunderbolt 5 cable.

With the debut of the new Mac Mini, Apple started selling a 1-meter Thunderbolt 5 Pro cable, as AppleInsider points out. It’s $69, which is about $30 more than a comparable OWC one and about $37 more than the Cable Matters option.

So it’s pricey, but if it’s anything like Apple’s longer, $130 Thunderbolt 4 cable, it may be worth it.
