Camera Reviews

It’s really hard to buy a bad digital camera these days, because the differences between all the good ones are so small. That doesn’t mean those differences aren’t important, though, and as cameras get smarter we’re going to be here to point you in the right direction.

Four years later, Fujifilm announces the Instax Mini 41.

Fujifilm just announced the redesigned successor to the $99 Instax Mini 40 it introduced in 2021. A minor upgrade, the Instax Mini 41 retains its vintage look but notably now includes the parallax correction feature found in the Instax Mini 12. This should help users avoid shooting off-center images in close-up mode, though we’ll have to test it to determine whether that claim is true.

Fujifilm has yet to release details about pricing, but says that it should be available by the end of April.

Reolink’s new 16MP camera works over Wi-Fi 6.

The smart security camera company debuted the latest addition to its 16MP lineup at CES. As the name implies, the Duo 3 WiFi works over Wi-Fi and stitches together video from two cameras to create a 180-degree panoramic view with color night vision, motion tracking, and people, vehicle, and animal detection.

The plug-in camera is available to buy starting today for $179.99.

Can you believe this thing still uses Micro USB?

Alright, maybe it’s unreasonable for me to be upset that a Super 8 camera doesn’t have the latest and greatest USB connector. Either way: it’s very cool that a new Super 8 camera just came out.

How the DJI Osmo Pocket 3 became my favorite gadget of the year.

And no, it’s not about the larger 1-inch CMOS sensors. DJI’s Osmo Pocket 3 camera won me over with its cleverly designed screen, impressive boot up speed, simplicity and versatility. Of course, it also helps to have really good image quality.

Never do the math on a Leica camera.

Leica’s new M11 Monochrom is a lovely camera, and an absolute joy to shoot with. But as much as I cherish its stubborn loyalty to black-and-white photography, here’s a sobering fact: If you paid me $10 for each of the 909 pictures I shot with it, I’d still need another $105 to buy one.
