We’re all kind of dreaming about a bezelless phone. Even if you aren’t, I know you still kind of are. Be honest with yourself. I’m definitely dreaming about Sharp’s Corner R phone and also Xiaomi’s Mi Mix. I love thinking about a massive screen with no distracting bezels and ample room for my fingers to jump around. But with that space to move around and watch videos comes a ton of surface area that’s vulnerable to cracks. A user in China apparently broke a tester Mi Mix as evidenced by a photo that surfaced online. Now I remember life is fleeting.

Keep in mind that the Mi Mix is made of ceramic, which is a somewhat fragile body material. And its display apparently isn’t made of Gorilla Glass or coated with sapphire. A case would probably be useful for this thing and maybe even some kind of extra glass protection layer. Really, you’re just going to have to accept that there’s often a tradeoff to our dreams. We might think a bezelless display is the future we want, but in reality, we’re going to just end up in a cracked screen nightmare.
