The OnePlus 3 is a great phone for $399, but don’t expect the company to go any lower. CEO Pete Lau said today at the 3’s Chinese launch that OnePlus won’t release a follow-up to the cheaper OnePlus X, as Engadget reports, and will instead focus on a single “true flagship” model in the future.
OnePlus won’t release any more low-end phones

OnePlus launched the X late last year. It was a fairly well-designed phone that cut a few corners but offered impressive value at $249, although its lack of support for certain LTE frequencies made it a poor choice for most customers in the US. The X line’s demise shows that even price-conscious brands like OnePlus can find it hard to make business work at the cutthroat low end of the smartphone market.
