iOS 10 might warn you when there’s water in your Lightning port

Sometimes our iPhones get wet and damaged, and sometimes we have to buy a replacement one for a lot of money. It’s a terrible situation all of the time. But maybe soon we’ll have a warning when our phone is wet. Some beta versions of the new software are reportedly warning users when there’s liquid in their Lightning port. This warning presumably gives iPhone owners enough time to disconnect their Lightning cable and let the phone dry out.

Apple has included moisture sensors in its phones for a long time now; it’s what the people at the Genius Bar use to determine whether your phone is covered by a warranty. It’s not if there’s liquid damage. That’s cool and all, but can we just get liquid-resistant phones? Apple hasn’t yet replied to a request for comment.
