The Sennheiser MKE2 is an action microphone made specifically for (and with help from) GoPro. Initially teased all the way back in September of 2016, the $199 MKE2 will finally hit store shelves next week on the 24th. A couple things you should know:
Sennheiser made a GoPro microphone that captures the sweet sound of your worst wipeouts
- The mic is molded into an entire backplate for one of GoPro’s waterproof housings — which means it’s only compatible with Hero 4 cameras
- It suppresses wind noise, but an elastic suspension should help cut down on structural noise (AKA that “GoPro rattle”), too
- It’s water resistant in depths up to a meter for 30 minutes

GoPro’s cameras are notoriously bad at handling wind noise, so this is a nice — if expensive — solution. Of course, if you want to go low budget, there are plenty of windsocks for GoPro cameras (GoPro sells one, too), and people have been hacking their way around the problem for a while now.
