Boston Dynamics is planning to sell its SpotMini robot to the public in 2019, TechCrunch reports today. The company said at a TechCrunch event today that the SpotMini is in pre-production and is being prepared for commercial availability next year. The company’s founder, Marc Raibert, also said the SpotMini was “motivated by thinking about what could go in an office — in a space more accessible for business applications — and then, the home eventually.” You definitely want this in your home eventually, right?

It can open doors! It could be your door-opening pet.
Boston Dynamics says contract manufacturers will build the first 100 SpotMinis later this year for commercial use, and then the company will ramp up production to sell additional bots in 2019.
