Last year, Samsung trademarked the name “Galaxy Buds” in what was speculated to be a successor to the company’s truly wireless Gear IconX earbuds. Now, thanks to a Federal Communications Commission filing, the new headphones have been seemingly confirmed, via 91Mobiles.

We still don’t have an idea of what the headphones will look like, but the FCC filing does include an illustration of the bottom of the charging case. It looks like a charging case, incidentally, although hopefully Samsung has chosen USB-C for that port on the back, not Micro USB.

An earlier leak from SamMobile claimed that the Galaxy Buds would also offer 8GB of onboard storage and improved battery life over previous models, while a separate certification from Bluetooth SIG confirmed that the new headphones will feature Bluetooth 5.0 for connectivity.

The Bluetooth SIG filing also confirmed the Galaxy Buds’ name. Samsung has recently been moving to consolidate its mobile products under a single “Galaxy” banner, including products like the recent Galaxy Watch. So adding its truly wireless headphones to that trend would make a lot of sense.

There’s no word yet on pricing or a release date, but Samsung is hosting a Galaxy S10 event in a few weeks, so it’s likely we’ll get a more official announcement soon.
