While the first teaser for HBO’s upcoming Lantern series felt a little to grounded, the new one actually gives us a pretty good look at how Hal Jordan’s superpowers are going to look on the small screen.

The latest poster for DC Studios’ upcoming Clayface movie — out October 23rd — from director James Watkins definitely leans into a kind of body horror that’s very different for the DCU. That kind of energy could be nice change of pace as the studio builds its new cinematic universe.
Update: And now we’ve got a trailer.
The entire point of HBO’s upcoming Lanterns series is to introduce new incarnations John Stewart and Hal Jordan — two superpowered space cops — to DC Studios’ cinematic universe. But Lanterns first teaser trailer makes it seem like the show might feel much more like True Detective when it premieres in August.
We don’t even know who will own HBO Max this time next year, but the streamer is putting on a good face with this sizzle reel of new footage from upcoming seasons of House of the Dragon, Euphoria, Dune: Prophecy and Lanterns — all of which are coming in 2026.

Gorilla Grodd — DC Comics’ gorilla supervillain who has longstanding beef with the Flash — is set to be the focus of DC Crime, a new HBO Max “true” crime docuseries hosted by Daily Planet reporter Jimmy Olsen (Skyler Gisondo). No premiere date yet, but Tony Yacenda and Dan Perrault are attached to write / showrun the project.

DC Studios’ new Superman movie feels like a wild comic book that’s been brought to life.

If you’ve been waiting for Warner Bros. Japan’s follow-up to Batman Ninja, some good news: (HBO) Max announced today that Batman Ninja vs. Yakuza League is set to make its streaming debut this summer on July 3rd.

Jack Kirby, the iconic comics artist who co-created Marvel’s X-Men and Avengers, and originated DC’s New Gods, is the subject of Kirbyvision, a new documentary from director Ricki Stern (Joan Rivers: A Piece of Work, UFOs: Investigating the Unknown).
According to Stern, the doc is her way of pushing for Kirby to finally receive some of the recognition he deserves as the creative wellspring companies like Disney and Warner Bros. Discovery are still drawing from.
It seems like Warner Bros. Discovery has been pleased with My Adventures with Superman because the studio has kicked off production on a Green Lantern-centric spinoff series as well as a new show revolving around Teen Titans mainstay Starfire according to The Hollywood Reporter.
DC has yet to make it official, but James Watkins (Speak No Evil) is reportedly the studio’s pick to direct its new Clayface feature that’s being written by Mike Flanagan.

In a sensible world, studios would just post trailers rather than appointment viewing events that need grand proclamations about their imminent arrival. But we live here and DC Studios wants you to know that the trailer for James Gunn’s Superman is dropping this Thursday.
Sony has made bad Spider-Man spinoff movies before, but Kraven the Hunter is another level of terrible.

Harley Quinn (Kaley Cuoco) is getting the hell out of Gotham in the upcoming fifth season of her animated Max series premiering on January 16th. And a new trailer teases how her plan to start a new life with Poison Ivy (Lake Bell) is going to go a little left as they cross paths with Lena Luthor (Aisha Tyler), Lois Lane (Natalie Morales), and Brainiac (Stephen Fry).
If you’ve been waiting to stream Joker: Folie à Deux like a sensible person, the time is almost here because the film is coming to Max on December 13th.

There was still time for HBO to make its Lanterns show all about Aaron Pierre’s John Stewart, but the network has just officially cast Kyle Chandler to co-star as Hal Jordan.

Todd Phillips’ new Joker sequel is a pitchy mess that wants to explore what happens when villains become folk heroes.

Amazon’s new Batman show is a jazzy blend of style, substance, and nostalgia.
Max has finally given The Penguin a September 19th release date, and the series’ latest trailer pits Oswald Cobblepot (Colin Farrell) against Sofia Falcone (Cristin Milioti) in a war for Gotham’s streets.
Technically speaking, Amanda Waller (Viola Davis) not allowed to run her typical Task Force X in Max’s new animated Creature Commandos series. But monsters like the Bride (Indira Varma), Eric Frankenstein (David Harbour), Nina Mazursky (Zoë Chao), and Weasel (Sean Gunn) aren’t technically human, which is why you’ll be seeing them going on suicidal missions this winter.
Joker: Folie à Deux’s first teaser didn’t feature nearly enough singing from either Joaquin Phoenix or Lady Gaga. But the film’s new trailer features a promising snippet of the clown prince humming a tune and seemingly starting a revolution as he makes his way to stand trial in Gotham.
Kite Man — a man whose power is having a kite — isn’t really the kind of DC character you’d expect to see starring in their own animated series. But you can kind of see the appeal to Kite Man: Hell Yeah! (out July 18th) when you hear Stephanie Hsu as an explosive ice skiter and Keith David as a drunken Darkseid.
Amazon’s new Batman: Caped Crusader series from executive producers J. J. Abrams, Matt Reeves, and Bruce Timm sounds very much like yet another Batman origin story. But the show’s 1940’s, Golden Era of comics vibe makes it seem like it’ll make for a kitschy watch when it debuts on August 1st.
DC Studios heads James Gunn and Peter Safran have been tightlipped about their True Detective-inspired Green Lantern series.
But we’re about to start hearing a lot more about it now that HBO has officially greenlit the project for eight episodes, and announced that Chris Mundy will be showrunning with Damon Lindelof and Tom King writing.

My Adventures with Superman has been knocking it out of the park on Adult Swim for two seasons now, and at this year’s Annecy International Animation Film Festival, Warner Bros. announced that the show has been renewed for a third installment.
Say what you will about Marvel’s What If...? Disney Plus series, but it has obviously had at least some influence on Warner Bros.’ new animated Watchmen films that are scheduled to debut some time in the near future.
A month ago, we got news that a new Batman: Arkham game was in the works, this time exclusively for the Meta Quest 3. Now, we have a brief trailer detailing a very bad July 4th in Gotham City. Unfortunately, Arkham Shadow still doesn’t have a release date — only that it will arrive in fall 2024.
