It’s the first film of 2026 to rake in more than a billion dollars, and on a budget of only $110 million. It’s unlikely to be the last movie to cross that threshold this year, however, with two Marvel movies and Toy Story 5 on the horizon.
Both Gears of War: E-Day and Clockwork Revolution are Xbox console exclusive titles, a phrase we haven’t heard for quite some time given Microsoft’s multiplatform push. “These are not timed exclusives,” says Joe Skrebels, Xbox Wire editor-in-chief. “Games already announced for multiplatform releases will stick to that plan – we’re committed to investing in and growing XBOX both on console and beyond.”
The next CoD was actually announced ahead of Game Fest, but here’s five more minutes of Modern Warfare 4, which launches in October.
We’ve been waiting to hear more about inXile’s new steampunk RPG, and during the Xbox Games Showcase today we finally got a rough release window: 2027. Clockwork Revolution will also be an Xbox console exclusive, just like Gears of War: E-Day.

Activision’s new Spyro game is Spyro: A Realm Beyond, and it’s launching in spring 2027. It’ll be available on Xbox, PS5, PC, and Nintendo Switch 2.
Castlevania: Belmont’s Curse, made by teams who worked on Dead Cells, will be released on October 15th. Despite the pedigree of its developers, it’s not a roguelike.
The next big update for Flight Simulator gives you a chance to explore over 30 American landmarks and national parks without bothering with a road trip. It launches, appropriately, on July 4th. Also you can fly the Goodyear blimp.
As promised, Sega’s Crazy Taxi is coming back with a new game called World Tour, and based on the first trailer it seems like it’s capturing some classic vibes. It’s launching in 2027.

The unsettling psychological horror of Senua’s Saga: Hellblade II is getting an action-oriented follow-up with a new game called simply Senua. It’s coming to Xbox, PS5, and PC sometime next year.

The zombie apocalypse game will be available on Xbox, PC, and PS5.

The event kicks off at 1PM ET. Once the showcase is over, it will transition directly into a presentation focused on Gears of War: E-Day, which is scheduled to launch sometime this year.
”You might see some characters from the game pop up,” Michael Sarnoski told IGN, but don’t expect a straightforward adaptation of the games. He’s working on revisions to the script with Hideo Kojima and A24 right now and said:
“Kojima has been really generous in letting me play in his world but letting me tell a story with my own characters and my own sort of corner of this world, but keeping it honest to the game and doing something that fans will really like. So it’s been a great process so far, and I’m really excited to share it.”

I’ll be back tomorrow with more of the Verge crew to keep covering Summer Game Fest. The Xbox Games Showcase starts at 1PM ET and the PC Gaming Show kicks off at 3PM ET. See you all then, and if I missed any cool games, tell me about them!

The sci-fi RPG, developed by a studio with ex-BioWare staff and published by Wizards of the Coast, is giving off serious Mass Effect vibes. But with no word yet on when the actual next Mass Effect game is coming out, next year’s Exodus looks like it could scratch the itch until that’s released.
According to a new look at the upcoming Tomb Raider reboot, Legacy of Atlantis, moments in the game like the T-Rex battle will be “transformed into epic gameplay encounters on a cinematic scale.”
We’ll see how cinematic it really is when the game launches on February 12th.
In the game, you play as some kind of sword fighter in a book-inspired platformer world. I’m definitely interested. It’s launching on PS5 and Steam this fall.

The two-hour show kicks off at 3PM ET, and it will include a new look at Exodus, the big new sci-fi RPG published by Wizards of the Coast.
